By pressing both push buttons at the same time, you switch between continuous and discrete mode. Discrete mode, as the name suggests, plays individual or discrete notes rather than a continuously variable tone. There are eight tones in one octave. In discrete mode, the two push buttons change the octave of the tones. The left push button (marked -) lowers the octave, and the right push button (marked +) raises the octave. To raise or lower the octave, the push buttons must be held down.
